From Lisbon to COP30: Inside Bioassu’s Push Into Global Innovation Ecosystems
Strategic bets on accelerators and climate competitions turned into partnerships, talent and non-dilutive funding for the babassu bioindustry.
Bioassu’s growth over the past year has been shaped as much by where it showed up as by what it built. Through 2025, the company placed itself deliberately inside a handful of innovation ecosystems, and those bets paid off in ways that went beyond a funding line: they validated Bioassu’s business model in front of a global market.
A funded seat at Web Summit Lisboa
The clearest example came from Portugal. Bioassu’s presence at Web Summit Lisboa, funded through Sebrae and ApexBrasil, turned into a co-development partnership with a Chinese company, the kind of connection that rarely happens without being physically in the room where global investors and corporates are looking for what comes next in bioeconomy.
A climate competition that became a talent pipeline
Closer to home, a second-place finish nationally in Climate Launchpad did double duty. Beyond the recognition, it helped Bioassu attract experienced talent for its international team, people who might not have found the company otherwise.
A path to COP30
The Hub de Inovação Climática secured Bioassu’s participation in COP30, a milestone the company points to as consolidating its authority in the energy-transition conversation, the same conversation where ABAX, its validated bioadditive for diesel, is meant to compete.
Funding the next stage, without touching the cash register
None of this came without capital behind it. Looking ahead to 2026 and 2027, Bioassu secured non-reimbursable funding to keep building: R$350,000 through MaranTech, earmarked for its activated-carbon plant, and R$120,000 through Fundo IPÊ, for community-based product development. Both are non-dilutive, meaning Bioassu can accelerate its technology roadmap without giving up equity or touching its own cash position.
Taken together, the pattern is consistent: Bioassu isn’t just building industrial capacity in Coroatá, it’s methodically inserting itself into the rooms, competitions and funding programs that translate a regional bioindustry into a company with an international address book.
