Bioassu Bioindustria Integrada is an inclusive biorefinery in the Mata dos Cocais, Maranhão, dedicated to the full valorization of the babassu coconut. Born from a direct look at the reality of babassu-breaking women, we sit at the intersection of technology, environmental regeneration and social impact, turning babassu into a noble bioeconomy asset while guaranteeing fair income for extractive communities.

From a technical study to an industrial biorefinery
Bioassu Bioindustria Integrada is an inclusive biorefinery in the Mata dos Cocais (MA), dedicated to the full valorization of the babassu coconut, at the intersection of technology, environmental regeneration and social impact.
2019 – Idealized
The company is idealized as Apoena Bioindustrial, starting from direct observation of the reality faced by babassu-breaking women in the Mata dos Cocais.
2019–2021 – Groundwork
Early years dedicated to technical studies and to strengthening ties with babassu-breaking women (quebradeiras) and family farmers across the territory.
2022 – First commercialization
Commercialization of endocarp and oil begins, the first commercial products of the whole-fruit model.
2024 – Industrial operation launched
A decisive step: the industrial operation opens in Coroatá (MA), focused on large-scale oil production.
2025 – Portfolio diversification
ull use of biomass expands to mesocarp, biofertilizers, animal-nutrition solutions and the ABAX bioadditive for diesel.
2026 – Becomes BIOASSU
Apoena Bioindustrial is renamed BIOASSU – Bioindustria Integrada, reflecting a new phase built on advanced environmental management practices.
